Toms Brook Town Council meets the second Thursday of every month at 7pm at THE TOMS BROOK SCHOOL APARTMENTS GYMNASIUM.
PUBLIC HEARING – 2024 - 2025 Proposed Town Budget
A public hearing on the proposed budget will be held on May 9, at 7 p.m., in the Toms Brook School Apartments gymnasium at 3232 South Main Street, Toms Brook, VA. This budget does not include additional personal property or real estate taxes but includes an additional fifteen (15) cents for cigarette taxes, bringing that rate to forty (40) cents.
REMINDER — Business License Requirements
If a contractor or developer is completing a job that costs $25,000 or more within the Town, the contractor or developer is required to obtain a business license and provide all legally required insurance documentation at the Town Office prior to the start of the project.
The contractor or developer can email the Town Clerk at treasurer@tomsbrookva.net for an application and pay using DOXO at doxo.com. Fees and fines apply for those who do not comply with this regulation.
REMINDER — New Trash Service Begins January 8th
Remember residents, refuse collection (limited to 96 pounds per household in cans or plastic containers only) is collected on Tuesday mornings.
The first week of the year, the refuse was collected on Wednesday because of the New Year holiday. The third week the refuse was collected on Wednesday because the county landfill was closed due to inclement weather. If the county is closed, refuse collection cannot happen because collectors have no place to unload the refuse.
From this point forward, ALL REFUSE WILL BE COLLECTED ON TUESDAY and must be in a container.
Cans should be placed at the curb on Monday evening and should be off the sidewalks and curbs by Tuesday evening. Collection occurs between 9:30 and 11 am each TUESDAY.
This is a new company – RWB Disposal LLC – which has new limitations to collections, limitations that other towns already have in place.
Refuse will NOT be collected in boxes or bags. Refuse must be in a can or plastic receptacle. These regulations help keep refuse collection within reasonable costs, landfill costs covered when residents pay their town personal property and real estate taxes.
Residents can purchase their own cans or contact RWB Disposal LLC to rent a can from the company. Rental begins at $20 per year, and residents can rent a container by contacting the owner, Karen Dean, at karen@RWBDisposal.com or by calling 540-837-5593.

The Toms Brook Town Office is open Mondays and Thursdays from 1-4 pm and the second Thursday of each month from 2-6pm before the Town Council meeting.
